Couple of Cool Utilities
Posted by jeffhobbs on May 13, 2008
A little while ago, I was passed a couple of utilities that I wanted to share with the community.
1) CSF2ASCII.exe – This tool will read any .csf file and write out the contents (projection information out to a a ASCII text file or an HTML file. This is also available in the download widget on the left hand side of the screen.
2) Database Inventory – This will analyze any warehouse connection and provide a complete list of the GeoMedia objects that are available in the connection. I found this one a bit hard to use…but it could definitely be useful if you needed to get a better feel for the contents of a new connection…especially a database. Great for documentation and learning. This too can be downloaded from the widget on the left hand side of the screen.

Nice list of some utilities. Would also mention Imagestation Raster Utilites (usually found in: C:\Program Files\ISRU\bin\ ). A lot of utilites are here, for instance:
delgtif.exe – removes the geotiff header of a tiff – so you can use a reference file instead if the geotiff is wrong
edheader.exe and vras.exe – two utilites to read the information in an image file

STH,
Great point – I’m a huge fan of the ISRU utilities.

Jeff,
Could you email me those two utilities? My IT dept blocked the box.net site through surf-control, and if I ask to get permission to go there, then they’ll ask me if I want a Big Mac and fries with that request.
Thanks

It would be nice if the Database Inventory utility could run on an entire directory path, as opposed to one file at a time;

Agreed. I rarely use this tool as I run almost entirely on Oracle. But I completely concur.
